Q: I’m told that I have corrosion on my propeller. How is this possible and how can I prevent it?

A: Corrosion is caused by many factors. Salt and water can cause rust on ferrous metals and oxides on non ferrous metals. This is caused when these elements are allowed to remain on metal surfaces for extended periods of time. For exposed and flat surfaces this condition is less a factor. However on hidden area as on the propeller near where the blade and hub mate, removing salt and other corrosion causing elements can reduce the creation of corrosion. The application of products like LPS3 on areas where dis-similar metals meet may reduce corrosion and extend the life of the parts which would otherwise be effected.
